Ticket Dismissal Through An Austin Course Defensive Driving

Based on a 2004 study conducted by the World Health Organization, an estimated forty million people get injured worldwide due to road accidents. These accidents are also called as motor vehicle accidents, auto accidents, traffic collisions, or personal injury collisions. Regardless of how it is called however, it is considered to be one of the leading public health problems worldwide. This led to proposals that were aimed to diminish the frequency of these accidents. Among these proposals that were implemented is a mandatory driving course imposed by the government. A good example of this is the Austin course defensive driving imposed by the state of Texas in the United States.

An Austin course defensive driving training is a requirement for drivers in Austin, Texas who had been issued tickets due to driving violations. Defensive Driving or Driver Safety Course (DSC) is required for a ticket to be dismissed. For people who have been cited while driving a motorcycle, a Motorcycle Operators Training Course (MOTC) is likewise required from them. A driver can only take an Austin course defensive driving once in a year for the purpose of ticket dismissal.

In addition, the driver must ask permission to take an Austin course defensive driving to dismiss a ticket on the appearance date that is indicated in the ticket. A request for defensive driving training can be done either in person or through mail. The driver who had been cited the ticket is the only person who is eligible to make this request. A driver must not have had a DSC or MOTR within the last twelve months before the violation for this request to be granted.

In order to be granted an Austin course defensive driving for ticket dismissal, some requirements would have to be submitted. These include the following: a notarized signature on the affidavit form, proof of a non-commercial Texas Drivers License, and court administrative fee of $120 for speeding while in a school zone and $95 for other violations. Also, a proof of insurance should also be submitted. This may be a copy of a vehicle insurance policy indicating that the driver is covered, an insurance card or a self-insurance certificate. Once all requirements are submitted, the driver will automatically be granted with his request.

The concerned driver is given ninety days to complete an Austin course defensive driving. He should be able to submit proof that he was able to obtain the defensive driving course already and a copy of his driving record on or before the ninetieth day after the affidavit had been notarized. A driving record can be obtained for a fee of $10.00 from the Texas Department of Public Safety in 5815 N. Lamar Blvd. in Austin. A defensive driving certificate, on the other hand, may be obtained only after two weeks. The driver has the option of submitting these proofs of completion in person or by mail. If these were not submitted within the allocated time, the driver would have to appear in a hearing before a Municipal Court Judge.
